deepdowntruth @ 09:56 pm: Dollar Outlet Store Closing--Bag Sale!
We are closing our dollar outlet store over the course of the next three weekends and trying to move it all out via a bag sale.

There are probably over 20,000 items (books, videos, CDs, music cassettes). The hours (I believe) are 10a-5p Saturday and Sunday starting tomorrow morning.

This first weekend, everything is $5 per bag. The second, $3 per bag. The third $1 per bag.

Thought the many bibliophiles in this community might appreciate the heads-up, as I believe we are being a little extra frugal with the advertising. :-)

Hope to see you there.

deepdowntruth @ 02:36 pm: So as of today, there is no Frugal Muse on Monroe St. The manager of that store made the owners an offer they couldn't refuse. Nothing to worry about. No other store closings imminent.

That is all.

EDIT: Just to clarify, there is still a bookstore in that location, but it isn't FMB.

I'm looking for a copy of Dave Grossman's On Killing...it was highly recommended by the instructors at the Police Academy where my older brother is currently studying, and I read a bit of it on an airplane next to him while he was asleep. If you have any copies of it, I'd love to know.

I'm additionally in the market for any of the following Hunter S. Thompson titles:

Hells' Angels
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72
The Curse of Lono
Songs of the Doomed
Screwjack

...and, of course anything by Charles Bukowski.

Well...whether or not this is the intended purpose of this forum...I thank you.

but really, why i came to post here is this:

okay, all you used book store mavens, i need your help!

i'm in search of a hardcover book to recycle into a blank book, possibly for use as a guestbook in my impending nuptuals.

the original book journal i had my eye on at ex libris anonymous was called "how to build a successful marriage."

now, the book doesn't have to be in FANTASTIC shape. i just need decent covers and a few pages from the inside. so if you're, say, doing a buy and see something with a neat cover or title, i'd be much obliged if you set it aside for me (especially if it's something neat, but about to be tossed in the recycle pile.)

the gal that owns ex libris is perfectly happy to make me a blank book from something i supply, so i just need the appropriate tome!

thank 'ee!
